I provide a confidential counselling space at Ahead4Therapy in Abbey Meads Village Centre, Swindon.
There is free parking outside which you can use, as well as some local bus stops.
There are a total of 3 counselling rooms - all on one floor.
My room is up one flight of stairs from a discrete entry door.
The room has three chairs which can be moved to make the space feel more comfortable for you.
It has an overhead light but also two lamps and we can use whichever lighting is best for you (its very important to feel comfortable).
We have a toilet and small kitchenette should you wish to have a glass of water during our sessions.
I often bring objects/fiddle objects into the room for your use but if you would prefer to bring your own (if you know that helps you), please do!
Please reach out to me at wellwatercounselling@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I can offer in-person session in North Swindon, as well as video and telephone sessions. I have undertaken additional training to ensure I offer safe and effective counselling remotely.
Sessions are usually weekly, but I can accommodate fortnightly sessions too. Once we have built a foundation for our work we can discuss whether the frequency is working for you and can be flexible.
The usual length is 50 minutes.
All sessions cost £50 - no difference between in-person, video or telephone
I work using the Person-Centred approach which focuses on self-development and personal growth by helping people recognise their own strengths, and step into their authentic self. It is a therapy which is very much led by YOU and never requires homework or writing/recording outside of session (unless you find that helps you of course!)
I also believe that working in a trauma-informed way is crucial. This means that I hold in mind the complex impact of traumatic events/experiences a person may have gone through and how it can impact their well-being and ways of coping.
I believe that understanding what we have gone through tends to make our current expereince make an awful lot of sense. It is important to not re-traumatise people and this is why I feel that trauma-informed care integrates well with the person-centred approach.
We will go through a contract together which is designed to make the work feel contained and safe for us both. It will include things such as session times, frequency, payment and areas you would like to focus on - as well as what you can expect from me. This is a collaboration.
It's completely normal to be nervous during the first session and to have lots of questions. It's also completely normal to not know where to start (!) and so I can gently guide us through and start exploring together what the focus of our work might be.
I'm afraid there is no clear cut answer!
For some people, a few sessions is all they want and so it may be fairly short-term work e.g. 6 sessions. For other people it can take longer to unpick the issues and so sessions may last a few months. For some people, starting counselling may be a long term investment in themselves and sessions may be much longer term.
I work both in short-term and long-term ways - all depending on what you would like. There is no commitment to 'sign on' for a set number of sessions with me but we can 'block book' sessions together and review regularly whether the work is feeling helpful.
Additional training undertaken to provide safe and effective online & telephone counselling
